چکیده

This study examined the tribological properties of two lubricating oils, paraffin oil and biolubricant added with TiO2 nanoparticles used as additives. Biolubricant used in this experimental was derived from palm oil-based TMP (trimethylolpropane) ester. The TMP ester is produced from palm oil, which is biodegradable and has high lubricity properties such as a higher flash point temperature and VI (viscosity index). The friction and wear experiments were performed using fourball machine tribotester. Experimental was carried out for 10 minutes under 40 kg, 80kg, 120kg, and 160kg at 1200rpm. Test temperatures were set at room temperature. The experimental results show that nanoparticles, TiO2 added to TMP ester exhibit good friction-reduction. The addition of TiO2 nanoparticles in the TMP ester at 160 kg decreased the friction coefficient by 15% respectively, and reduced the wear scar diameter by 11 %respectively, as compared to TMP ester without TiO2 nanoparticles. In conclusion, TMP ester added with nanoparticles is environmentally desired to mineral oil based lubricants, research to investigate the properties of nanoparticle added with TMP ester to make it technologically competitive as automobile lubricant, and should be encouraged. © 2013 The Authors. Polyesters Based on Linoleic Acid for Biolubricant Basestocks: Low-Temperature, Tribological and Rheological Properties

Presently, plant oils which contain high percentage of linoleic acid 1 are perceived to be a viable alternative to mineral oil for biolubricant applications due to their biodegradability and technical properties. In order to get biodegradable lubricant, triester derivatives compounds (1-5) were synthesized and characterized. The processes involved were monoepoxidation of linoleic acid 2, oxiran...

Improving Electrochromic Properties of WO3 Thin Film with Gold Nanoparticle Additive

In this research, WO3 and Au-WO3 thin films were prepared at different temperatures using the sol gel method. The effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on the electrochromic properties of WO3 was also studied. 2.5 nm GNP was synthesized through sodium citrate reduction of gold chloride in an aqueous solution. These films were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and spectrophotometer analyses. The fil...

A NEW CEMENT ADDITIVE TO IMPROVE THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF OIL WELL CEMENT AND TO ENHANCE ZONAL ISOLATION

The main purpose of cementing of the well is to provide effective zonal isolation for the entire life of wells. The standard cements cannot prevent loss of zonal isolation when the stress level in the well cement is severely fluctuated. Since elastic cements improve elastic properties, recently, a number of studies have been done in this area. For this purpose, a nanoparticle, named EX-RIPI, wa...

Synthesis and Optimization Process of Ethylene Glycol-Based Biolubricant from Palm Kernel Oil (PKO)

Internationally exploited lubricants are derived from coal and petroleum. Due to their high consumption and effects of their long-term pollution on the environment, it is imperative to use renewable and cheap feedstock for the synthesis of bio-based lubricants. This study presents the synthesis and optimization process of Ethylene Glycol (EG) based bio-lubricant from palm kernel oil. Palm Kerne...
